The Importance of Pre-Selling As An Affiliate Marketer
This video (while a bit boring in terms of presentation) has some really good things to say about affiliate marketers trying to sell a product.
Here are some things to think about:
When you're selling something as an affiliate marketer, you don't want to just send your traffic directly to the merchant's sales page. Your visitors, no matter what market you're in, want to see that you have taken the time to review the product or service for them. THey want a simple side-by-side comparison, and/or a demonstration of how the product works.
Is there some way that the product you are marketing is lacking?
Is it detrimental to the overall performance of whatever product you're talking about?
If so, why should the person visiting your site still purchase this particular item?
Above all, don't just send your traffic away to the merchant without first making an effort to have them subscribe to you. Your ability to bring people in to your web site the first time may be excellent, but if they never return to your website, then the lifetime value of that particular visitor can only ever be equal to 1. 1 product, 1 purchase, 1 affiliate commission.
But if you are able to capture their name and email, and possibly some other information from them, their value to you, as well as your value to them, increases exponentially.
