Call with Alex Mandossian and Jim Guarino
One of the biggest challenges people face when they're getting started into affiliate marketing is the set of philosophies and attitudes with which they enter the business.
I was on a call today with Alex Mandossian (one of my heroes) and Jim Guarino, where Mr. Guarino was talking about his book (which became an Amazon.com bestseller): Get Real Money! Get the Money You Want in Just 7 Minutes a Day.
Some of this is word for word what was on the call, and some of it is my paraphrasing, but it was a good call. What they talked about mostly is the fact that your personal philosophy, more than anything else, will have the greatest impact on the actions you take, and the actions you take will have the greatest impact on the lifestyle you ultimately achieve.
Here are some of the more specific ideas that were covered on this call.
Play to Win
Old Ideas used to work. Getting a good Education to get a good job is not necessarily a path to wealth anymore. In the new economy, things have changed.
Get real with money
Money is not something we just pass off to someone else. It is one thing to go to an auto-mechanic and say, would you please change out my engine… that is not going to work in an inexpensive way. It is much more inexpensive and effective to get an oil change every 3,000 miles. Can you do little and smart things money-wise that will help you build a long-term path for success? Let's get real with money and play to win.
Compress time
Old idea = "Get education, trade time for dollars"
New Idea = Let money work for you by looking at the formulas and tactics that the wealthy use: inventing wisely, learning how to own and operate a business.
Eliminate Risks
Putting hope in old ideas is a huge risk. Putting all your effort into one form of income is a huge risk. One way to eliminate risk is to use your career and work that you are being paid for, as a means to get paid in another arena. ex. You work as an accountant: Could you write an ebook that covers your knowledge from being an accountant, and market that ebook on the Internet?
Act on the opportunities
We are living in massive change. Things are changing so quickly. Change creates opportunities. Begin to look at things differently. If 1/3rd of all homes are being foreclosed on in Colorado (a statistic that is absolutely staggering if true), there is an opportunity for the person willing and able to help the people out of those foreclosure situations.
Be positive
Yes, you can do it. Remember that, and why you're doing it, when things get a little challenging.
Commit yourself to at least seven minutes a day
The whole concept is very simple. The hardest part of any job is just getting started. If you are able to get started, and whether you start applying yourself 20 minutes per day, or 7 minutes per day, it adds up. 7 minutes per day is 42 hours per year. If you work on a project an additional 42 hours this year, will it help move that project forward? Absolutely.
Think long term
The wealth mindset is getting real about the fact that there is no big easy. It takes time, hard work, and discipline.
Get right information
Napoleon Hill said that the quickest way people become broke, and experience failure, is by listening to their broke friends, family and neighbors.
Get positive motivation
Find ways to motivate yourself. This comes from knowing why you're doing what you're doing, celebrating small victories, and using that to move forward to the next bigger victory.
Do daily Application
This is the secret to making this work. Even in just seven minutes per day, you can make huge changes.
